You can remove it in Program Files, but afterwards it had still e.g. clobbered my home page.  In case you need manual cleanup:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In Firefox, browse to &#8220;about:config&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Search for keyword.URL and change from AVG crap to:\n<pre>http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Search for browser.search.defaultenginename and right-click and select Default (which should be Google)<\/li>\n<li>Search for browser.startup.homepage and change from AVG crap back to whatever you had there before getting hacked by AVG<\/li>\n<li>Fire up Regedit.exe and search for and remove the AVG addon at this location:\n<pre>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Mozilla\\Firefox\\extensions<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Somewhere the AVG toolbar got installed on my laptop Windows install, perhaps without my permission when I installed PowerISO.
