{"id":165,"date":"2007-09-05T06:13:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-05T11:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bitpost.com\/news\/2007\/09\/05\/setting-mythtv-channel-names\/"},"modified":"2007-09-16T12:45:34","modified_gmt":"2007-09-16T17:45:34","slug":"setting-mythtv-channel-names","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bitpost.com\/news\/2007\/setting-mythtv-channel-names\/","title":{"rendered":"Setting MythTV channel names"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For some reason I haven&#8217;t seen this in the various MythTV HowTo&#8217;s:<\/p>\n<pre><code>mythfilldatabase --do-channel-updates<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>Note that this will wipe out any customizations you&#8217;ve done to channels.<!--more-->  But it sure beats the goofy &#8220;Adding Channel ##&#8221; names you get when first scanning for channels using mythtv-setup.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the other options as well:<\/p>\n<pre><code>mythfilldatabase --help<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>I signed up with the &#8220;new&#8221; channel listings supplier, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schedulesdirect.org\">SchedulesDirect<\/a>.  At first I was really ticked off that no one put together a free service to replace the previous one from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zap2it.com\/\">Zap2It<\/a>, but SchedulesDirect has done a great job transparently replacing the previous service.
