So&#8230; let&#8217;s block FF2 from reinstalling by adding this to package.mask:<\/p>\n<pre><code>\r\n<=www-client\/mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.16\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>Now we can run [emerge world] to see the problem dependency:<\/p>\n<pre><code>\r\n!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy \"=www-client\/mozilla-firefox-2*\" have been masked.\r\n!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:\r\n- www-client\/mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.16 (masked by: package.mask)\r\n- www-client\/mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.11 (masked by: package.mask)\r\n(dependency required by \"www-client\/epiphany-2.20.3\" [installed])\r\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>Epiphany is a browser based on FF2, ugg.  You can't mask epiphany, it is a dependency of gnome.  So... unmasked FF3 and gnome are incompatible, at the moment.  For now, I guess I have to wait it out... after all, the official policy (as stated <a href=\"http:\/\/bugs.gentoo.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=207510#c6\">here<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The overall Gentoo policy is very clear on the topic.
