<br>
<br>

== Description ==
This Firefox addon enables fast navigation of google results, while still retaining the google "feel". Navigate the results using the mousewheel, and mouse over a result to display it in a window to the right. Try it, it's fast and fun!

== Details ==
When you search using google, the results page will be changed as follows.
* The results on the lefthand side will be placed in a scrollable container. Google results are 48 characters wide. The container will be sized to hold the results exactly as google provides them.
* A second container is placed in the remaining space on the right. Mouse over a result link and it will be displayed in the righthand container.
Note that to benefit from this feature, you should be running at a high resolution (1024x768 or higher). If you run at a very high resolution of 1600x1200 or higher, you will most likely be able to see the full results window as intended.

== Status ==

For changelog, feature requests, and donations please visit the [http://www.thedigitalmachine.com/googleresultswalker/ Google Results Walker status page].

<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
HISTORICAL FOOTNOTE: This website mashup and rework business is a brittle one. It usually doesn't take long before the source website changes and things are borked. The original (currently broken) perl webscrape version was called [[GoogleFramed]]. There's lots of fun perl in it though, including heavy use of my favorite module, WWW::Mechanize.

<br>
This script combs google's image results for the link to the "full" image, rather than just the thumbnail. As the original full image locations are determined, they are placed in the html result. Once you submit a search, should start to get full images right away in the results. Be careful, simple searches that result in a large number of hits can pull down LOTS of large images!

There's a secondary function as well. The resulting images are wrapped with HTML that will do an imagescrape of the site where the image is located, if you click on the image itself.

The script uses my favorite Perl module, [http://search.cpan.org/dist/WWW-Mechanize/lib/WWW/Mechanize.pm WWW::Mechanize].

Someone asked me to release the perl code under the GPL. It's just a quick sloppy hack, so no promises, but here it is. One word of warning: it's pretty brittle, it's tied to the exact format of Google's image search and results pages. If they change, the script will need to be updated. That being said, it's been working as-is for a long time now. Also of note: I got into this based on some article discussion somewhere - we stand on the shoulders of giants - keep on sharing! :>

   I've gotten far enough that i'm ready to clone it
I need one for waves, one for spirit
looks like i can do this:

copy the joomla directory
copy the joomla database
edit joomla_new/configuration.php

can that be all I need?? let's test and see...
creating hollyspringswaves.com site
cp /usr/local/joomla /home/m/development/tdm_cvs_view/joomla-waves

signed up for hollyspringswaves.com
at 1and1.com for $7/year including DNS mgmt
hollyspringswaves.com

waiting for reply email (m@thedigitalmachine.com)

updated configuration.php
$mosConfig_absolute_path = '/home/m/development/tdm_cvs_view/joomla-waves';
$mosConfig_db = 'joomla-waves';
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://www.thedigitalmachine.com/hollyspringswaves.com';

once 1and1.com gets its act together i will update live_site
ok now they're back, and hollyspringswaves.com is ready
went to do DNS management, there is only space for one A and one MX record, I added tho\
looks like you have to ADD subdomains, and you are allowed up to 5
adding www.hollyspringswaves.com
now I can do DNS management, cool, just used the same settings
stupid me put in all my juicy details, including address and phone and m@thedigitalmach\
ine.com
updated official DNS contacts to just have my name and city

now to clone the database... using phpmysql

i guess i need to export, then import, hrmph...
exported joomla using all defaults
[x] include Autoincrement
[-] include complete inserts
[x] save to file
create new database joomla-waves

oops, no need, i found "database copy" under "database->operations", GROOVY!
now it's complaining that i haven't added the tables that mysql wants
- no worries, that's just for additional linking features of some kind

copied to joomla-waves, looking good!
now set up a virtual host!

cd virtualhosts
cp boxcarkid.conf hollyspringswaves.conf
xe /home/m/config/machine_globals.conf
add an include for virtualhosts/hollyspringswaves.conf
then set up hollyspringswaves.conf
well ok, i did it, time to DEBUG ( not like it's going to work first try!! )

1&1 Name Servers are:
ns47.1and1.com
nslookup
server ns47.1and1.com
hollyspringswaves.com
(that works fine)

adding hollyspringswaves.com to /etc/hosts

bouncing apache... failed
needs this:
mkdir /usr/local/apache/logs/hollyspringswaves.com
whoooooooop apache started up!

it's there! but says "The site is temporarily unavailable." and a "3"
The number following the message indicates a database problem. The error number is generated by jo\
omla/mambo and error numbers 1, 2 and 3 indicate the following:
Error 1 = FATAL ERROR: MySQL support not available.
Error 2 = FATAL ERROR: Connection to database server failed.
Error 3 = FATAL ERROR: Database not found

Sounds like I need to set up PERMISSIONS for that new db, doh.
where is the joomla mysql user specified... I think it is here in the configuration.php...

$mosConfig_user = 'joomla';
$mosConfig_password = '*****';

changing to this:

$mosConfig_user = 'joomla-waves';
$mosConfig_password = '*****';

and creating permissions with this:

mysql -u root -p
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON joomla-waves.* TO joomla-waves@localhost IDENTIFIED BY '*****';

(argee, you'll need to add some single-tick quotes around each part of that)
I ended up adding a global user in phpmyadmin, adding db rights, then revoking global rights

OK THAT DID IT!
next, there's no css, weird.
and when I logged in i got a bad url - need to fix _live_site in configuration.php, that should fix it.

i logged in, said "bad password" but i was in - so i went to profile and updated password
u      Coach Mike
Here is the current list of recommended components to add to the [http://joomla.org/ Joomla base installation]:

* [http://www.joomlapolis.com/ Community Builder] 1.0.1 highly recommended for 1.0.11 "secure" Joomla base
To compliment this component you will need to give your users some good features, I recommend the following as a must have:

# mamboblog - allows each member to have their own blog and allows their blogs to be posted on your main site's blog page /n
# Profilegallery - allows each member to have their own photo gallery
# recent visitors - provides a list of all the members and non members that have viewed a member's profile
# joomlaboard 1.1.2 - provides a forum for the members and the profile tab can list all of the member's posts
# random profile - allows the site admin to randomly spotlight member profiles
# topprofiles - allows the site to showcase the profiles that have to most hits
# connections - ( I don't like the name, but it is really a buddy list for your members

'''Moving to Apache 2.0'''

I have moved from my own mashup of Apache 1.3 to FC4/gentoo versions of Apache 2.0.
I have moved from mod_perl 1.0 to mod_perl 2.0 (slashcode is (probably permanently) broken).
I am moving from PHP4 to PHP5 - why go halfway?? :P Bookmark4u is the last remaining problem.

'''Update'''

Bookmark4u replaced with SiteBar. slashcode replaced with WordPress. Life goes on.
