1/3/2006 Dan hooked up to play some UT2004 with me. We tried out a bunch of new levels that we had no clue about, but we're ready for next time...
12/6/2005 Had a great game of the (free!) Tribes Vengeance multiplayer demo with bro Dan last night. Highlights:
- We were fighting The Lone Eagle, he was smoking - hovering next to us in the sky as if he were attached to us (maybe he was, grappeled?) and discing us midair too many times. But once we teamed up against him we cleaned his clock. He was dogfighting with me and dropped behind the edge of a hill, when a quarter second later this ragdoll body came flying off the lip of the hill, arms flailing - Dan had dropped the perfect grenade, right in the pit of the valley where he landed. Dan got to watch him drop right on it as it went off.
- Vehicles are a blast, and it doesn't seem like many other people have gotten the hang of them yet. The dune buggy is a great way to pair up and dish it out. I drove Dan down to the base while he had the (awesome!) gun on it blazing, wreaking havoc. Before they could even figure out who was trashing them, I jumped out and snagged the flag. After Dan finished pummelling, he swapped into the driver's seat and drove away.
- We had enough of an edge that we were almost always able to keep all our turrets surrounding the flag. The Lone Eagle would come skiing in, 100 mph, and try to snag the flag. It was a beautiful sight watching him cut to ribbons by the crossfire of five turrets.
- The jump tank is unstoppable if the other team is scattered. I drove it right down the road to the edge of their base, and stuck my head out around the corner to wail on them for a while, ducking back before they had a bead on me. By the end of the run, I had the whole team holed up in the base, the proverbial fish in a barrel.
- After we dogged the other guys for a while, they all dropped out, and we finished off by flying the huge airship in and decimating their entire base. Ahhh...
