OK, I guess I’m officially getting old, to be interested in a show on the “more mature” music video channel. Or am I just incurably immature for watching music videos at all? Age is so confusing these days. Is 40 the new 30? And 30 the new 20? Or do we all just remain children in today’s consumer-oriented society?
Anyway, I recorded the show on the MythTV box and it is actually watchable if you turn on “auto-skip commercials” (otherwise, definitely NOT). The following have me humming all day:
- Audioslave: Doesn’t Remind Me
- Nickelback: If Everyone Cared
- John Mayer: Waiting on the World to Change
- Gorillaz: Feel Good Inc.
- Sophie Ellis-Bextor: You Get Yours
- Paulo Nutini: New Shoes
- Juliet: Ride The Pain
I guess some of that comes from MTV, so I guess I’m still young (immature? delusional?)… and some comes from elsewhere… whatever… :P
I do not know, but interbation is the new mastercourse
Hey Mike,–who’s Keith? I don’t want you to be playing with him anymore. Now, listen to yo momma–you hear??
Is that the Keith from Valpo?
Hi Keith– from Mike’s Momma
We keep Keith around as a bad example. But it’s better if he doesn’t speak.
Yes, that’s me, ma’am; but my quote is your son’s, circa 1990.
Now please tell your son to start eating some salmon.
I recall Mike’s all time favorite quote
“It’s just an animal act”
Ahhhh the good old days of the Escort and hangovers and Burger King.
Don’t believe a word, mum. Listen to Kevin (he’s a Lutheran pastor). :> And to think, you gave Keith room and board once. What an ingrate. :P
Time to go censor Keith. Again. :>
Nice! By the way, I am still very grateful that your parents let Ken and me stay there. So much so I was going to become a regular reader of your dad’s blog (boxcarkid.com) as I am of your blog here. However, I was very disturbed by his reference to an African-American boxer as a “Negro” in his blog, and immediately stopped reading. Oh well.
See? He’s quite a force of nature. I guess that’s why we keep him around.
“Feel Good!”
I remember the Escort Ken mentioned. That must be the one we drove to Florida over Spring Break. That still ranks as one of my favorite road trips! I don’t think I got busted getting into any bars under age but your Dad busted me trying to skate by without introducing myself to his congregation.
I left the Escort on the side of the road after a homeless guy “fixed” it by pouring cold water into my overheated radiator – cracking it on the spot. On the other hand, he knew a lot more about it than I did. Back to the first hand, that’s not saying much.
That was originally my grampa’s car, thanks mum for letting us have our adventures in it.
Gotta get back to the Valpo email…
That Escort is the reason I know that I wasn’t meant to die in a car… otherwise… well, the stories we could tell are probably best left off this message board!
I think I have a picture of that car somewhere… maybe I’ll e-mail it to you.
Erik has that picture somewhere….probably next to a pair of Lisa’s old panties. Yeah, but remember this Escort story, hitting that curb at 50 mph was a real stunner. Never realized how loud metal verses cement could sound . I remember how load metal verses metal was, ie., Eriks car and lawn chairs. But Mike, you took the cake. I’ll never forget you saying as we left some happy hour flying back to the house, “Gramps never pushed this American compact car to the limit as I have. Never did, never will. Using the emergency break to stop was probably the best thing I learned from you.
Just Click on “The Red Escort” to see why what’s good for grandpa can be dangerous for the kids!
Ahhh… the stories we could tell…
Hahaha Ken you’re too funny. Dang, did I even own a shirt in college?
MDM:
You did not need a shirt in college. You were red hot!
Doug, Erik, Ken, Mike W, Mark, Paul, Bozik and I will be in Vegas April 19-22. You gotta cume! Push back that goddamned surgery!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to exit this very privileged dialogue, but I must say–I thought going to Valporaiso U. was a very good thing you did——— And look at all your Valpo Buddies that still keep in touch! What a group. I’m glad I didn’t know ’til now.
Hey Ken, are you still an anesthesiologist. You never kept your appt I arranged with Dr. Antonio at SWReg.MC where I worked!! I should have suspected something then.
I noticed Pastor Kevin will not be in Vegas–and Mike has been waiting??? for this surgery too long to cancel ,so he won’t be there either.
Bye-Bye, Mike’s Mom
M’sM:
You would think it would be spelled Valporaiso since we call it Valpo; I do not understand it either!
Laughter is the best medicine. April 19-22 in Vegas is where it will be!
Did your son ever tell you that Andrea and I dated in college (for a very short time)? Actually Doug could tell you more about it than Mike could.
My apologies for missing that appt and my gratitude for letting Keith and me stay during our road trip around the southeast. Florida was to far from family. I’ll never forget Mike saying we can stay there no problem only to realize when we showed up Mike’s Dad had the look of surprise on his face. (Like what the heck is going on.) I’m still an anesthesiologist working in McHenry, Illinois….the far fringes of the Chicagoland area. Jennifer and me have 3 boys all 4 and under. Lots of fun, lots of headaches, but well worth it.
