andrea and i and all our neighbors went b4 town of fuquay board of reps to fight a zoning density increase – r10 when we r all r40 – with clustered housing and mobile homes a possibility adjacent to multiacre horse farms. after a dozen of us spoke for an hour, the board took 10 seconds to unanimously vote against us. turns out half of them were buddies of the developer. sigh…
notes on my speech…
a lot of people are in fuquay bc of the availability of a bit more land
as suburban sprawl edges outward, cities have an opportunity to commit to green spaces and lower density housing, but its a limited time chance. once the density increases, the chance is lost
we r here bc we want fv to have an identity that rejects the sprawl and density. id like the town to focus on the linear parks and greenways it has planned, and reject these kind of zoning changes. thanks.
