LAN party on, Garth!

Don’t know if ya can call it a party, there were only 3 of us, but…

Chau gave Jason and me a nice Tribes ][ clinic. I was on my afore-mentioned TI4200 board, and not to be outdone, Jason picked one up that very night (along with a $15(!!) copy of T2). Despite being completely out-GPU’ed, Chau skooled us real good.

Update: CHAU HAS FALLEN! :P See comments…

Update: CHAU HAS BACKUP! Aaaaaa!! Duck and cover!

Jabber!

Michael writes “Get yerself a Jabber account! Jabber server available at jabber.flyingbuttmonkeys.com (so you don’t have to use jabber.org and get blocked by AOL!)

Gabber is a good Linux client.
WinJab and the “commercial client” at Jabber.com are good on Windows.”

Hickman Family Reunion

Andrea, Grammy and the girls are off to St. Louis for her cousin’s wedding. I will fly out to join them on the weekend. Should be a blast to finally meet all her family! But how will I remember all the names? Oh, just reference the handy dandy family tree Andrea drew for the girls! Now if only I was as good as they are at memorizing it all…

Riding the Rails

Me folks visited for a short while recently. My pop’s still hard at work on his novel about the kids that spent a lot of time “riding the rails” during the Great Depression. He’s actually doing some research on his travels right now, and then the ‘rents are swinging back around to stay overnight on Thursday. I will try to get him to let me post a bit of the book on here soon…

[9.5] Attack of the Clones

I dug it. Achieving suspension of disbelief has become nearly impossible for the average viewer, given the hype surrounding Star Wars TM copyright Lucasfilms all rights reserved blah blah blah. Transcend the cynicism and see this as a good story that ties together an epic saga. This is the movie that gave me the first sense of a huge interconnected Star Wars world. Kinda cool.
